The Great Room addition to an existing log home with dramatic views of Mount Washington was designed to afford an expansion of the existing outdoor decks and patios, incorporate a lower level garage bay, and state-of-the-art Wine Cellar. The project included full renovation of the existing Kitchen, as both Owners' are accomplished chefs and wine aficionados. The program requirements for the addition, which would be primarily used for entertaining, included taking advantage of the magnificent mountain views on all three exposures and access to a reconfigured outdoor cooking patio. Exterior finishes included local granite veneer and oversized slabs, cedar shingles stained to complement the existing log home, and standing seam metal roofing. The interior finishes incorporated subtle detail inferences to Frank Lloyd Wright while providing for a clean, classic modern feel. The new kitchen cabinets, appliances and lighting in the existing log home flow seamlessly through the new bar area into the new sunken Great Room. Currently, a newly designed Master Suite addition is under construction.
